Convocation 2019

Congratulations to our 2019 graduates!

On June 3 and 4, 2019, we celebrated the achievements of Capilano University’s 50th graduating class at Convocation. Graduands were joined by our first grads from 1969 for a full-circle celebration of CapU’s 50th anniversary.

This year’s ceremonies were especially colourful with graduands wearing vibrant new satin hoods and stoles over their traditional black gowns.

The University’s new Coast Salish legacy canoe had a prominent place at the front of the stage as a reminder of our students’ journey at CapU and all the journeys they will take in the future.

A highlight of the ceremonies was an unforgettable live performance by Grammy Award-winning artist, Sarah McLachlan, who received an honorary degree. Founder of G Adventures, Bruce Poon Tip also received an honorary degree. Canadian poet, artist and retired CapU instructor, Pierre Coupey was honoured as Faculty Emeritus.

Congratulations to all of our graduates!
